Whew. It’s Monday.月曜日だな。

Good lord what a weekend.

It started with a panic attack, and one thing led to another and now I have traded my iPhone 17 Pro for a flip phone and am blogging again.

What the hell happened?

Social media, in addition to already having a higher than usual amount of anxiety, got to me. I panicked. I cried. I picked apart my entire life alongside my husband to find ways, if any, to relieve my pain. Turns out, you CAN have too much social media in your life. Too many notifications, too many likes. Too much doom scrolling while sitting on the toilet for a time that was for thousands of years a moment of peace and relief. Now it is too much reddit before bed. Too much agonizing over seeing other people and influencers doing things that I wanted to do but don’t have the time or money to do. Too much corruption and blatant power abuse. Too much death. Too. Much. Everything.

Humans were not made to be on 24/7. Our brains were not made for the overload that comes with being perpetually online.

So I decided to make a choice on Saturday afternoon.

I drove my ass out to my local phone store and bought a flip phone. Yes, they still sell them, and yes it does all the things they used to do in the early 2000s. They still have Candy Crush style games. They still have music and take pictures. They still have mobile web browsing. They still aren’t as cool as their Japanese counterparts. But most importantly, they still have a place for a cute charm straps and have far fewer apps and social media options. This limits my doom scrolling addiction CONSIDERABLY, and in turn I’m hoping that it will curb my anxiety and improve my mental health.

Of course it being the capitalist dystopia we live in, the damn thing still has Google preinstalled. I will not be using those features. I will not be logging into ANY services whatsoever on this device. It is meant to be my peace, and I will maintain that.

In any case, here’s a few photos of the phone:

I surprisingly don’t have any charm straps stashed away, so I will procure one for this phone at some point.

Anywho I also made some cinnamon rolls for lunch in my Dolly Parton skillet, and they were DELICIOUS. Thank you Dolly.

This photo looks like dang AI but I took it with my iPhone 17 Pro.・なんかAIみたいだけどiPhoneで取りました。
Yummy goodness.・とにかくおいしそうでしょう?^-^

In spite of all the human madness, the chickens are doing great and molting season is upon us. Nut and Poopy have begun dropping feathers, and the four new girls haven’t been fazed at all. In fact, they all started laying last month and just keep trucking everyday. They even share and co-nest sometimes, as in our Picture of the Day:

Welp, I hope this post has been finding everyone well and that this is the first step into a healing mental health journey of sorts. My biggest hope is that I can still stay connected with my favorite people online, just without the doomscrolling and constant anxiety. Let’s see how it goes!
