You know, if there’s one thing I love once in a blue moon, it’s a good blowout.
But ever since I picked up the Baby Squad as chicks in March, I get the full salon treatment on my lunch break everyday.

And honestly? It is a little gross, but I love it.
Everyday after chicken recess, we herd the chickens back into the run and we sit down and hang out.
And that’s when the fun begins.

Also, I am aware that the video sizing and spacing is weird. I don’t know how to fix it. Sorry.
The Baby Squad girls take turns jumping in my lap and getting to work on my luscious strands of deliciousness. They slobber all over my locks and slurp it like it’s the juiciest worm they’ve ever eaten, and they can’t get enough of it.
Which gets me thinking: Why do they do this? And why only those four chickens?
It seems to be a cultural thing that only the Baby Squad does – the older Poop Troop members watch in disgust and sometimes give hair slurping a try for themselves but it doesn’t stick. But Baby Squad girls do this everyday like they were born to do it.
And maybe they were – maybe it’s some sort of innate display of affection, like perhaps my “feathers” are in need of a good grooming and their comfort level with me as a mama and instincts take over from there. Or maybe it’s something weirder, like four simultaneous cases of chicken PICA.
Whatever it is, they seem like they’re having a good time, so I am too.
