Misty is a straight legend of a hen.
Last week, she was on death’s doorstep.
Today, she is back outside hanging with the flock like nothing happened.

Despite the odds and a very wonky egg production system, she’s made a huge leap in recovery. The antibiotics did their thing and she is feeling much better. She’s out there eating, drinking, pooping, and pecking on the Cookie Club babies as per her usual. She’s also grabbing catnaps in all the best sunbeams, and is snatching blueberries straight from everybody else’s mouths at snack time regardless of her low rank in the pecking order.

We still aren’t sure whether or not she 100% has reproductive cancer though, so she isn’t completely out of the woods yet. Testing for those types of things can very quickly empty our wallet, so we are following our amazing veterinarian’s advice and recommended care plan to help keep Misty as healthy and comfortable as possible.
We are cautiously optimistic and super happy she is still here with us for a bit longer on this mortal coil, and that she is as sassy and goofy as ever.
